What is a sauna?
Everyone knows what a sauna is, but just in case you came here directly from some other planet, let us tell you.
It’s a room or a small enclosed space which is used to experience heat sessions. Generally, a lot of steam and high heat is build-up inside the room so that the bathers start to sweat. And because of this heating and sweating, the users can get loads of health benefits.
What are the different types of saunas?
Well until this century, there were only steam sauna out there. Where people use to heat the room with hot steam and were very common in spas and gyms.

The main and the biggest difference between a traditional sauna and an infrared sauna is the heat. In infrared saunas the heat inside the unit is somewhere between 120 to 150-degree F. Whereas, in traditional sauna the heat is a little bit higher between 185 to 195 degrees F.
Traditional sauna might overwhelm a newcomer because of its higher heat. But on the other hand, because the infrared can easily penetrate our skin, the lower heat triggers a stronger sweating process.
In Infrared sauna, the machine emits a certain specific wavelength of light, which penetrates the skin and starts to heat it up. In response to the heating, out body starts to cool it down by sweating. But on in a traditional sauna, the air is heated up by a stove or very hot rocks. This heating of air starts to heat up our bodies as well and as a result the sweating process starts.
Environment inside the sauna:
The other main difference between a traditional sauna and a personal infrared sauna is that the traditional sauna has a lot of steam inside the room which make the environment very humid. But as the infrared sauna solely depends on the infrared red wavelength light, it does not have any humidity inside the room and is rather dry.

Whereas the traditional sauna uses as much as 3 times more power than infrared saunas. They need about 6kW of power to run completely. Traditional saunas take more time to heat up than infrared saunas. They take about 20 to 35 minutes to heat up, whereas, infrared saunas heat up quicker in about 10 to 20 minutes. In an infrared sauna you will be sweating within 12 minutes.
